Fitness Floor Staff (Afternoons & Weekends)

Hours: Weekdays- 12-5pm, Saturdays 7-6pm

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Fitness Floor Staff will serve as the liaison between the participants, members, and professional staff concerning all wellness equipment, programs and policies. In addition, every position in the YMCA of East Tennessee is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the Y's core values - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

1. Provides ActivTrax orientations to members including, but not limited to; safety and technique on all available wellness equipment.

2. Must be proficient in Daxko Engage software.

3. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the Y.

4. Ensure equipment and wellness area is kept clean during shift and before end of shift.

5. Ensure weights and other equipment is properly stowed according to Y policies and procedures.

6. Follows all Y policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.

7. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

There are no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

There are no education requirements. At least six months experience with wellness equipment is preferred.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed quickly changing room temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May be required to lift or move up to 100 pounds. Must be able to explain and demonstrate proper technique on all fitness equipment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of the organization.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, COURSES:

Current citizen CPR or higher; required for hire.

New Employee Orientation; required for hire, provided by the Y.

Additional training, licenses, and courses may be required throughout employment.
