A Receptionist / Patient Access Associate performs clerical duties with minimal supervision including patient appointment scheduling, answering multi-line phones, greeting patients/clients, data entry, and registering new patients. Communicates professionally with patients, families, physicians and other hospital staff. Assists with chart reviews and perform light housekeeping duties.
Education and/or experience: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Office experience preferred using clerical skills. Typing 40-50 WPM. Previous experience working with physicians and other medical professions preferred.
Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
Skills: General computer skills using Microsoft office, basic knowledge of Word and Excel. Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, asking questions as appropriate, not interrupting at inappropriate times. Talking and writing in a way to convey information effectively.
Abilities: Ability to listen, read, and understand information and ideas presented through written and spoken words. Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions. Actively looking for ways to help people. Able to communicate information in speaking and writing so others will understand. Ability to sense when something is wrong or about to go wrong.
