Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert level understanding of NFPA with ability to consult an organization or project on meeting specific requirements.
  • Provide fire protection design for DOE and DoD governmental facilities.
  • Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and relates fields.
  • Works on projects of moderate scope with complex features.
  • Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
  • Design tasks include Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and System selection and layout.
  • Ensures internal communication and coordination of design efforts.
  • Coordinate support activities required to complete design efforts and quality assurance processes.
  • Work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments.
  • Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.
  • Prepare labor-hour proposals for fire protection design work.
  • Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from A.B.E.T. Accredited Program in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Architectural, or Electrical Engineering with experience in Fire Protection.
  • Uses advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments.
  • Experience with building and fire safety code analysis, fire dynamic analysis, and fire risk analysis is required.
  • Must have a minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years of related experience and/or training.
  • Candidate must be capable of and willing to obtain a Q clearance.
  • Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.
