PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Provide technical and application support to customers in coordination with the sales team. Develops solutions for new thermal engineering projects. Assists customer service with quotations and order handling.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and modeling software to develop designs.
  • Convert 3D designs into manufacturing drawings and instructions for the production of engineered insulation solutions.
  • Assists Sales Managers in optimizing profitable sales and growth in the assigned product lines by participating in meeting sales objectives and profits.
  • Fulfills customer needs through leadership, coordination and liaison among field sales, customer, the appropriate in-house engineering and manufacturing persons.
  • Configures and proposes standard and custom control systems to increase the sales of standard Promat Inc. products and technology; works with Production Engineering on cost estimates. Selects appropriate products based on heat flow analysis and application requirements.
  • Participates with Sales Managers in solving technical problems in applying Promat Inc. products or technology to meet specific customer requirements; provides guidance or advice to Sales Managers in application of products and systems in customer applications, etc.
  • Prepares technical and price proposals under appropriate supervision and assists in planning and execution of proposed sales and marketing strategy; works with the appropriate department or section to arrive at the correct cost structure and delivery projection for standard and special products or systems.
  • Makes on-site visits to assist customer or Sales Manager in installing and starting up evaluation equipment to promote product sales, investigate and promote new applications, and handle unusual technical or customer application problems.
  • Participates in customer service training sessions as required and scheduled; assists in training of Sales Managers.
  • Develops and maintains proficiency in technical details of Promat Inc. product, business practice of industries, a good working knowledge of standard insulation methods, practices and competitive aspects of the marketplace.
  • Plans and schedules daily work activities and makes the most effective use of time and expenses incurred in travel and in plant work.
  • Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.
  • Sketches rough layouts and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, etc.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Prepares project reports.
  • Measures parts during production to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
  • Must be a team player with proven skills.
  • Analyze “non-routine” thermal requirements, define critical parameters, define key stake holders within Microtherm and propose a solution path in close collaboration with the development manager.
  • Back-up Production Engineering in creating bills of materials, routings, production drawings, programs (CNC, Waterjet)
  • Propose and assess the benefits of possible solutions with all stake holders including the responsible Sales Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical, civil or aerospace.
  • An understanding of manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Ability to perform 2D and 3D designs and modeling utilizing AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • 1-3 years of application engineering experience in a high-performance manufacturing or processing environment.
  • Basic understanding of thermal insulation and heat transfer calculations.
  • A non-compromising attitude to operating safely in the plant for the health and welfare of all associates.
  • English speaking.
  • Must have initiative, leadership abilities, and ability to acquire negotiation and sales skills; must have the ability to plan and organize work so each assignment can proceed in an orderly and expeditious manner.
  • Ability to acquire detailed knowledge of all products in the assigned product lines, their applications and the knowledge of competitive products and their pricing, including knowledge of industrial and commercial product engineering standards and practices.

RELATIONSHIPS:

  • § Reports directly to the Business Development Manager.

  • § Regular contact with Quality, Production, Customer Service, Supply Chain, and HR.

  • § Liaises with various global production facilities and Global engineering teams.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. Requires walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day with occasional climbing of stairs and ladders to access manufacturing work areas. Reaching above shoulder heights or below the waist. Lifting of 50 pounds or more. Proper lifting techniques required. Minimal travel may be required (U.S. and International).
