BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Conduct comprehensive chart reviews of clinical departments to identify potential clinical documentation, coding and/or charge capture opportunity areas. Conduct research to identify root cause(s) of missed charges and coordinate with clinical departments and physicians to review and resolve the areas of opportunity.

* JOB REQUIREMENTS

* Minimum Education

* Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred

* Minimum Work Experience

* 2 years of experience in Health Information Management field preferred

* Required Licenses/Certifications

* RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC preferred

* Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

* Strong understanding of medical record documentation and coding guidelines

* Familiarity with CMS documentation requirements, CPT and HCPCs coding guidelines

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills

* PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* Medium lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-20 lbs. frequently and 10 lbs. constantly to move objects. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 100 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
