Job Description:

• We're seeking a highly motivated Pathologist Assistant to join our team in Knoxville, TN for a 3-month contract. This onsite position offers a flexible schedule (preferred: 1 pm - 9:30 pm ET) and the opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct gross examinations of surgical pathology specimens under supervision.
• Assist the department manager with day-to-day operations and ensure accuracy & efficiency.
• Perform gross examination & dissection of complex specimens for histology processing.
• Provide training and guidance to staff in techniques, instrumentation, and organization.
• May be responsible for onboarding, training, and QC of new staff.
• Perform specimen preparation on non-gynecological specimens (including FNA).
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality control, and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP).
• Troubleshoot issues, exercise independent judgment, and interact with pathologists.
• Identify problems, recommend workflow changes, and monitor quality indicators.
• Follow lab procedures and maintain licensure requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (Pathology or related field preferred).
• Meet requirements for non-pathologist performing gross tissue examinations (SOP & 1988 CLIA CFR 493, 1489).
• Current state licensure.
• Grossing Technician experience (REQUIRED).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree.
• 1 year surgical gross experience with complex specimens.
• NAACLS-approved pathologist assistant training program graduate.
• ASCP Certified PA.
