Description

This is a skilled work in the use of specialized maintenance and construction equipment and vehicles utilized in the water and wastewater activities of the Sevierville Water Systems. The work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of specialized electrical test equipment, test equipment for reduced pressure backflow devices, service trucks with small cranes, vacuum trucks, pressure washer equipment both portable and truck mounted, and portable ventilation equipment. Employee in this position will be required to be on call during portions of each month. Supervision is received from the Pump Station Supervisor.
Summary of Duties

Operates service trucks, small cranes, electrical test meters and equipment, air operated tools, gas powered tools and equipment, hand tools, mowers with weed eaters, and ventilation equipment.

May supervise and participate in the work of a small crew during the construction and installation of water and wastewater pumping stations to include plumbing and electrical switch gear, trouble shoot and repair small electrical control panels.

Assists in building maintenance functions such as painting, electrical work, carpentry, masonry, etc. as needed.

Performs water and wastewater maintenance work such as repairing line breaks and sewage blockages while on call.

Tests backflow prevention devices for proper operation and inspects grease traps for proper maintenance when performing the duties of Inspector.

Maintains all records concerning cost and inventory for the sewage pump stations and water booster stations.

Provides records of the testing of backflow prevention devices and all inspections of grease traps.

Reports number of tests/inspections to the Plant Operations Manger each month.

Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or a GED certificate supplemented with some technical training in electrical and plumbing work and the test equipment used for work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Requires a valid Tennessee commercial driver's license within one year. Requires completion of special training, demonstration of competency in testing backflow prevention devices and acquiring Back Flow Prevention License from the Tennessee Department of Health and Environment within the first eighteen (18) months of employment.

Requires over six months and up to and including one year.

Perform medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, dancing, stretching, or lifting al of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands, or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
