Performs those duties, under policies and procedures approved by the Laboratory Director and/or his designees, and laboratory management that are exempt from State of Tennessee laboratory personnel licensing laws. Those duties include performing phlebotomy and specimen collection, the initiation of pre-testing protocols, the performance of waived testing, clerical office duties, housekeeping, inventory management and phone duty as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and/or experience: High school graduate or equivalent. CMA or phlebotomy certification referred. Phlebotomy experience required. Must successfully complete the on-site training and job orientation for assigned duties.
Knowledge: Thorough technical knowledge of phlebotomy. Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Skills: Highly developed phlebotomy skills. Must have good customer service skills. Must have good mathematical, verbal and written skills. Must have appropriate computer skills.
Abilities: Ability to understand instructions, reason, and make judgments. Ability to adjust work flow in response to stat orders, emergencies, and other fluctuations in workload.
