RGI, established in 1908, has the distinction of being recognized as the largest privately held aggregate producer in the United States.We have 86 quarries and 56 asphalt plants across Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio.Rogers Group is seeking a Mine Planning Geologist to join our Eastern Division Operations based out of Oak Ridge, TN. The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating, designing, and communicating short and long-term mine plans that improve our quarrying operations. The ideal candidate will be strong in AutoCAD/ Carlson software and will be responsible for 15 quarry operations across Eastern Middle and Eastern TN. The Mine Planning Geologist will report to the Eastern TN Production Manager and will take on additional responsibilities such as geological interpretation, mine modeling, and short-term mine planning. This position will work closely and communicate frequently with Rogers Group's corporate mine planning department.Duties and Responsibilities:Primary Responsibilities:* Formulating ultimate pit plans, reserves estimate, and 5-year plans (using Auto CADD, Carlson, & GIS Software)* Ability to create yearly stripping and production plans for the operations.* Field data collection using surveying equipment and drones.* Building a close line of communication with the operations plant managers.* Land documentation use and management information.* Generate and maintain site plans and maps.* Field time will be required, along with minimal overnight traveling.* Exploring any way to continuously improve operations.Additional Responsibilities:* Ability to create geologically detailed core logs and descriptions.* Assisting with mergers and acquisition projects.* Assisting in special projects deemed necessary.Qualifications/ Skills:* Uncompromising focus on safety excellence and the ability to complete MSHA safety training.* Experience with AutoCAD, Carlson, and excel preferred but not required.* Self-motivated and able to work without requiring close supervision.* Ability to safely lift and move multiple 50lbs core boxes.* Must be able to work outside in all types of weather and tolerate changing conditions.* Interested in a career in the aggregate mining industry.* Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.Education/ Experience:* Bachelor's degree in Geology and/or related mining degree.* 2-5 years of experience in geology or in a geology-related field.* Mining, QA/QC, GIS experience, and FG/PG license would be preferred but not required.Rogers Group provides extensive benefits, strong compensation, and a safe, drug-free working environment.As a Rogers Group employee, you will have access to our competitive company perks, including:* Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance plus Health Savings Account with annual company contribution.* Company provided Group Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance.* Retirement 401(k) with company contribution and match at one year of service.* Company provided Short- and Long-Term Disability.* Paid Holiday's including Christmas shutdown between Christmas and New Years Day.* Paid vacation available after 180-day probationary period and accrued based on years of service.* Annual performance-based merit increases.* Career growth/advancement opportunities.RGI EEO StatementIt is the policy of Rogers Group, Inc. to recruit, hire, and promote individuals based on demonstrated merit and qualifications.
