JOB DESCRIPTION And RESPONSIBILITIES

The Regional Property Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing property accounting activity and ensuring that the integrity of the financial statements and other financial documents is maintained for multiple assigned clients in a Region. Regional Property Accounting Managers report directly to the Director of Property Accounting. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Plan client workload for accounts payable/accounting team and assign accordingly
  • Review and approve monthly Financial Reports created by Property Accountants and Accounting Specialists
  • Train and oversee Property Accountants and Accounting Specialists
  • Initiate the preparation of Annual Operating and Capital Budgets while working directly with Property Accountants and Property Managers
  • Ensure accuracy of all general ledger information including lease administration data
  • Review Balance Sheets and Income Statements per property to verify account balances and assess reasonableness of revenue and expense amounts
  • Oversee and assist Property Accountants in the preparation of monthly and annual recoverable charges reconciliation
  • Work with Property Managers to establish accruals for the month, approve journal entries for accruals
  • Monitor property month-end and year-end close
  • Initiate and review 1099 reporting
  • Obtain bank statements from online banking portals and review reconciliations
  • Oversee tenant billback process for excess utility charges as well as vendor invoices paid on behalf of Tenant
  • Assist with Accounting/Lease Administration Business Development upon request

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate, property management, facilities management, or equivalent.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Knowledge with property management software such as Yardi is required.

ALLOCATION OF TIME

  • Business Client Development – 5%
  • Client / Project Work – 85%
  • Administrative – 10%

Overnight travel may be required up to 10%.
