Mesa seeks a motivated Substation Physical Group Lead to manage a physical design team working on projects for a client with a growing workload. Position requires approximately 70% project work and 30% management. Responsibilities include monitoring budget and schedule, assigning resources to a project, communication and collaboration with the client's project managers and project engineers, collaborating and mentoring with design team, collaborating and working with other design teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team to complete physical substation design projects.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of high voltage transmission substation outdoor equipment.
  • Willing to learn the Client's standards and practices.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems related to substation design.
  • Ability to work independently with direction, while not hesitating to ask questions when needed.
  • Possess aptitude for developing a strong working relationship with Senior Management, Program Manager, Project Manager, Group Leads, and Design Staff.
  • Possess aptitude for developing a strong working relationship with the Client.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess willingness to develop, promote, and comply with Mesa quality requirements.
  • Possess willingness to develop, promote, and comply with Mesa safety requirements.
  • Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and software used for specific technical applications within the group.

Education

Preferred: Bachelors or better in Electrical Engineering or related field

Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Experience

Preferred: Minimum of 7 years of experience in 69kV to 345kV physical substation design is required.

Licenses & Certifications

Preferred: Prof Engineering (PE) Engineer in Training
