Under direct supervision builds prototype automotive airbag inflators for internal and external customers. Performs simple routine technical tasks from detailed standardized procedures. Builds energetic subassemblies according to written instructions. Operates specialized welding, assembly and test equipment. Performs special test procedures and records results. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Builds prototype automotive airbag inflators according to written procedures and process steps 2. Sets up and operates laboratory machinery such as laser welder, resistance welder, gas fill machine, friction welder and others 3. Builds energetics assemblies from drawings and written instructions 4. Performs conformance tests (weld sections, leak checks, electrical test, hydroburst, etc) to verify product quality 5. Assembles special test fixtures to evaluate energetic material performance according to written instructions 6.
