Job Summary:

We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented SR Accountant to support the Controller in all aspects of planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions. This position will assist in managing the day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining the GL and accurate financial records, supporting job cost accounting (WIP), providing timely and accurate financial reporting and analytics, and instilling an internal system of control. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, organized, and familiar with construction accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and supervise daily accounting operations including job cost accounting, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable collections, fixed assets, and inventory. Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial transactions and reporting.
  • Manage WIP accounting, inclusive of reports and budget-to-actual comparisons. Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of project costs, contract revenue, change orders, and retainage.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Perform analysis and reconciliations of the operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and construction industry standards. Research and resolve complex accounting issues to assist in the development of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Under the direction of the Controller, support external audits and tax reporting.
  • Mentor and supervise accounting staff, helping to develop team capabilities.
  • Support special projects and system implementations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience; construction or project-based accounting is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
