Overview

Miller Industries is seeking a Compliance Manager to lead and oversee the company's environmental and regulatory compliance programs across U.S. and international operations. This role ensures adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and standards, while driving continuous improvement in sustainability, environmental management systems, and corporate responsibility. The Compliance Manager supervises a team of engineers, conducts audits, interfaces with regulatory agencies, and supports strategic initiatives aligned with the company's environmental and operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manages an environmental compliance program for all U.S. operations and supports the compliance programs for international operations as needed.
  • Conducts regular comprehensive audits of multiple manufacturing facilities to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Supervises a team of Compliance Engineers, some of which work at other facilities.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of International, Federal, State, and Local environmental and sustainability laws and regulations.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert regarding compliance requirements across topics including environmental, sustainability, export, government contracting, and others.
  • Supports the assessment, planning, and implementation of initiatives to meet company environmental and sustainability goals and objectives.
  • Interfaces with regulatory agencies during external inspections, investigations, or requests for information.
  • Assists Human Resources in the preparation of environmental training material for employees based on compliance obligations and identified environmental risks.
  • Communicates with Operations teams to monitor changes in processes or materials that may affect compliance obligations.
  • Oversees and maintains registration of an ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System.
  • Conducts internal audits of company processes and procedures to ensure continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System.
  • Leads data collection and analysis efforts regarding the company's sustainability performance and required disclosures, including waste generation, GHG emissions, and water and energy usage.
  • Applies for, renews, and closes environmental permits as needed.
  • Maintains facility environmental plans (including SWPPP, SPCC, and HWCP).
  • Conducts facility inspections to monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, plans, and permits.
  • Maintains regulatory records such as inspections, waste and emissions logs, and reports.
  • Maintains knowledge of export and government contracting regulations (EAR, ITAR, FAR, DFARS).
  • Reviews regulatory flow-downs on government contracts to determine applicability and compliance.
  • Reviews export control requirements on international orders and writes control procedures when necessary.
  • Oversees relevant supply chain due diligence processes, such as country of origin determinations.
  • Attends regular training courses and industry events to stay current on regulatory landscapes and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Environmental or related discipline, and 5+ years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong reading comprehension, technical writing, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards (ISO 14001:2015, CA SB 253 and 261, CBAM, RCRA, CWA, CAA, EPCRA, TMSP, DOT, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite.
