Job Summary: The Workforce Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing programs that support student learning, workforce readiness, and talent development. This position specifically manages an IACMI Internship Program and a K-12 Innocrate STEM Program, working closely with educational institutions, employers, community organizations, and students to foster successful pathways from education to career. This role will support managing the program by tracking milestones, managing planning, managing budgets and taking a proactive approach to expand and plan programming. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is well-organized, energetic, and a self-starter who enjoys working on a team focused on changing the lives of individuals and communities through education and training.


IACMI is headquartered in Knoxville, TN. This is a remote position requiring individuals to work independently and on a team in a virtual environment. This position requires national travel with overnight stays approximately 50% of the time, including quarterly in-person meetings at our headquarters in Knoxville, TN. Eligible candidates may reside in TN, MI, OH, IN, FL, WV, or NC.


The Workforce Manager reports to the Director of Education and Workforce (or designated leadership) and will supervise program coordinators, interns, or support staff as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage the IACMI Internship Program, including outreach to employers, student recruitment, placement, and program evaluation.
  • Provide interns with mentorship and learning opportunities that can translate to success in future composites industry employment.
  • Be a positive mentor and role model for interns while also exposing them to other industry role models to learn lifelong skills for effective employment.
  • Create a collaborative and communicative work environment for interns, maximize their exposure to member companies and manufacturing employment opportunities,
  • Oversee the STEM InnoCrate Program, ensuring alignment with school curricula, educational standards, and workforce needs.
  • Collaborate with school districts, teachers, administrators, and community partners to expand access to STEM opportunities for K-12 students.
  • Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, budgets, and reporting requirements.
  • Build team leadership and learning opportunities for internship development and interaction with members.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with IACMI member employers to create meaningful internship opportunities and ensure positive experiences for students.
  • Build and expand relationships with universities, colleges, trade schools and community colleges to recruit and place interns into IACMI programs.
  • Maintain relationships with other Manufacturing USA Institutes through regular coordination and communication aligned with the Partnerships and Outreach Division and Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office.
  • Design and deliver workshops, orientations, and training sessions for students, mentors, and employers involved in the programs.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure program impact and report outcomes to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Report program updates and milestones and present program efforts to varied audiences as event or situation warrants.
  • Promote the programs through marketing materials, community events, and partnerships.
  • Ensure programs meet needs and align with strategic growth plans for IACMI.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, and relevant regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement by incorporating feedback and best practices into program design.
  • Up to 50% travel may be required


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Workforce Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in program management, education, industrial training, workforce development, or a related area.
  • Experience working with K-12 education systems and/or managing internship or workforce readiness programs.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working at or with manufacturing employer. (preferably in composites field).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, educators, and employers.
  • Knowledge of STEM education practices and workforce development trends.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, survey tools, and other database management tools.
  • Experience with Monday.com or similar task management tool preferred.
  • Ability to develop effective PowerPoint slides and give clear concise presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
