Software Engineer

Join a dynamic team dedicated to the design and support of mission-critical robotic platforms and control technologies. As a Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in the development, troubleshooting, and maintenance of software systems used across various robotics platforms, with an immediate focus on resolving operating system issues within a Linux-based production environment. This role requires hands-on work with embedded systems, real-time code, and robotics applications. A four-year degree is not mandatory; candidates with relevant experience and a proven ability to excel in this environment are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve Linux-based OS issues on existing product lines.
• Diagnose and debug embedded software and related system functionality.
• Contribute to new and existing codebases using C/C++, Python, and Qt/QML.
• Utilize ROS and Linux-based development tools to support robotics platforms.
• Perform code reviews, documentation, and testing activities.
• Use git for version control, branching, and release management.
• Support development across additional robotic products after initial priorities are addressed.
• Collaborate with engineering teams for system integration and performance improvements.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Experience with Linux, including system-level understanding.
• Familiarity with Qt/QML.
• Working knowledge of ROS (Robot Operating System).
• Practical experience using git for code repositories.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, real-time systems, interrupts, and data bus concepts.
• System-level debugging skills.
• Strong capability in code troubleshooting and systems diagnostics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• A four-year engineering degree is a plus but not required.
• Comfort with software testing, documentation, and release processes.
• Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams while executing independently.

Work Environment

This position is situated in an on-site manufacturing environment, primarily involving office/desk work. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers. Expect to engage in both team-oriented projects and extended periods of individual, computer-based work. Enjoy non-billable holiday and PTO benefits.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clinton, Tennessee.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
