Role description: Arcadis is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Design & Engineering team within the North America Places group. The role sits within our Places Global Business Area (GBA). We work with clients around the world to create, support, and enhance smart, safe, and sustainable places where people live, work, learn and thrive. The role supports projects such as Data Centers, Transit Facilities, Commercial and Retail, Mixed-Use Residential, Institutional/Educational, and Social Infrastructure developments. This position has flexible working hours and is a key location-based role in Southern California to support our Education, Living and Workplace architectural practice. While work scopes may be located throughout the United States, we are prioritizing candidates in the Southern California area.

Role responsibilities

  • Sustainable electrical engineering expertise: develop engineering reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications directly or through team members.
  • Client interaction: provide first-in-class solutions and high-quality deliverables ranging from front-end planning reports to issue-for-construction document packages.
  • Power distribution, lighting, emergency power, controls, and related building systems knowledge applied to project work.
  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline team to support Education, Living and Workplace projects.
  • Travel up to 20% may be required, including overnight stays.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of relevant MEP experience in Education, Living or Workplace settings.
  • Professional Engineer license in California.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders regarding needs and technical solutions.
  • Experience with projects utilizing Autodesk platforms and other digital design tools, including Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or BIM-engineered solutions.
Education
  • BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience on projects with Arcadis (including legacy CRTKL and IBI) architects.
  • Experience in full-service consulting design firms and coordination with in-house A/E resources.
  • Adaptability to new digital tools, including AI, in project delivery.
  • Practical sustainability and carbon reduction experience.
  • Experience with urban environments implementing transformative solutions and user-experience-centric projects requiring focused engineering.

We provide nine paid holidays and 15 days of PTO annually. Salary range for this position is $95,000 - $150,000, with actual salaries varying by experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
