Purpose:

Responsible for selling a broad range of OEM products, aftermarket parts and service business within a designated territory. Develops new and maintains existing relations in person and via telephone as a trusted business partner, assessing the customers' needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Knows and understands the customer's business.
  • Prospects for new customers
  • Assists all customers in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for achieving an established individual monthly sales goal.
  • Knows the product lines.
  • Communicates parts orders to parts phone room sales staff. Advises whether status is stock or emergency.
  • Checks with customers to ensure that delivery date of non-stock items is acceptable before ordering.
  • Advises counter person on delivery instructions.
  • Obtains Sales Managers' approval for any special pricing.
  • Follows up on parts orders to ensure that customers have been served properly.
  • Coordinates service sales calls with service department
  • Tracks customer calls and information within Sales Force
    • Updates customer records to reflect changes to names, addresses, email addresses.
  • Completes expense reports timely.
  • Acts as a public relations liaison for the dealership.
  • Listens to and resolves customers complaints regarding products or services.
  • Operating a vehicle is a safe manner, maintaining a safe driving record.
  • Monitor all local competition and recommend competitive strategies.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Maintains company vehicles including cleanliness and regular maintenance.
  • Continues professional development through online and in person courses or events.
  • Occasional overnight travel for regional dealer training.
  • Complete daily Vehicle Inspection Report prior to leaving for daily deliveries and submitting through established procedures.

SKILL, TRAINING AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & PREFERENCES

The Outside Parts Sales requires a number of basic skills, including:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be self-motivated and have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Must be a team player with a strong sense of commitment to the customer.

Elements that are preferred, but not required for the Outside Parts Sales, are:
  • Knowledge of parts.
  • Experience with Microsoft programs and applications currently in use at this location.
  • Sales experience.
  • Good Customer Service Skills.
