Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for supporting total laboratory maintenance. Performs troubleshooting and maintenance on electronic and mechanical systems and components on several semi-automated assembly lines. Provides tool and die support to the plant during off shift hours. Set-up and operate all the basic and many specialized machine tools including lathes, drill presses, milling machines, precision grinders, micrometers and other precision measuring instruments (CMM). Focus on supporting the preventive maintenance process including lubrication and inspection, general maintenance tasks, such as but not necessarily limited to assembly and disassembly of components, problem troubleshooting and correction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Set up and operate all the basic and many specialized machine tools including lathes, drill presses, milling machines, precision grinders, micrometers and other precision measuring instruments (CMM).
2. Understands machine functions, metal properties, and mathematics calculations to manage a metalworking project from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing.
3. Reviews blueprints and written specifications; completes reverse engineering on components.
4. Select the most appropriate machines, cutting tools, and materials for the job.
5. Plans the sequence of machining operations and can meet precision tolerances (within 0.0001").
6. Conduct tests to determine whether equipment and/or procedures are operating as expected.
7. Monitors and adheres to the tooling/process control standards as established in the organization including following all documentation procedures.
8. Performs project work for continuous improvement as well as assist in laboratory support of equipment.
9. Maintains a safe and clean work environment including cleaning of tools, equipment, and parts.
10. Perform all duties in a safe and collaborative manner and immediately report any potentially dangerous conditions or other safety concerns to the supervisor.
11. Start up and shut down equipment in accordance with operation's requirements, company safety procedures and OSHA requirements for machine activation and shutdown.
12. Perform basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance tasks in a safe, efficient manner.
13. Perform diagnosis and repair activities with following detailed working procedures. Determines materials, replacement parts, and tools/parts needed to repair, maintain and rebuild.
14. Set-up, adjust, calibrate, and operate equipment; perform layout and bench work; inspect, dismantle, repair, rebuild, assemble, weld, install and lubricate machinery and mechanical equipment throughout the manufacturing facility.
15. Inspect for defects, misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication and determine the best process for making repairs with limited interruption to production.
16. Assist in maintaining building needs (heating and cooling systems).
17. Disassemble and move existing equipment as well as install new equipment.
18. Provide for safe disposal of all toxic materials and supplies.
19. Maintain tools and work area in a safe, neat, and secure manner.
20. Maintain daily work logs and update equipment and component records.
21. Maintain preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules.
22. Promote and comply with good safety practices and habits, including but not limited to, use of all PPE, and ensuring guards and safety features are working.
23. May train others in maintenance activities.
24. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS*:
AAS Degree or *equivalent experience, with a minimum of two (2) years' experience. Must be formally trained and knowledgeable in Machining and Machine Shop Practices or have the experience to demonstrate acceptable skills. Must be proficient in all measuring instruments used in the shop. Must have completed specialized PLC training or have ten (10+) years of PLC experience. Must have a working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-mechanical and computer-controlled systems/components and the ability to logically and systematically troubleshoot and repair those systems. Must be knowledgeable in PC based data collection methods as well as the Microsoft Windows operating environment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
