Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Quality Engineer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support a high-precision industrial manufacturing project. This role focuses on ensuring that all components, processes, and documentation meet rigorous quality standards for precision machining and metal manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with close-tolerance machining, precision measurement, and manufacturing quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement quality plans, procedures, and documentation aligned with ISO 9001 and ANSI/ASME standards.
- Perform in-process and final inspections of precision-machined components and assemblies.
- Conduct audits and surveillance of manufacturing processes and suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for non-conformances.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing records for accuracy and quality.
- Collaborate with engineering, machining, and procurement teams to maintain quality throughout the product lifecycle.
- Maintain traceability and documentation for customer reviews and regulatory audits.
- Support qualification and validation of equipment, processes, and personnel.
- Monitor and report quality metrics, trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in quality engineering within precision machining, metal manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or defense industries.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and ANSI/ASME standards.
- Proficiency in precision measurement tools, inspection techniques, and quality management systems (QMS).
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma certification.
- Familiarity with NQA-1 standards (a plus, but not required).
- Experience with tight-tolerance machining, CNC processes, and metallurgical testing.
- Knowledge of cleanroom protocols and contamination control.
Other Job Requirements - United States Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security clearance. Active clearance is a plus.
