Position Details

• This position is designed as Hybrid (at location and remote) and requires travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or other related business degree with a minimum of nine (9) semester hours of accounting and/or finance.

OR

Professional bank examination work may substitute for the required education including the accounting course work, on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four (4) years.

AND

Maintain a Valid Motor Vehicle Operators License.

Overview

Under immediate supervision, is responsible for professional bank examination work of routine difficulty, attends required schools and performs related work as required. This is the entry level classification in the Bank Examiner series. An incumbent in this class is employed by the Department of Financial Institutions and learns to review and analyze the financial statements and operations of state-chartered Banks licensed to operate in Tennessee. This class flexes to and differs from Bank Examiner 2* in that an incumbent of the latter functions at the working level.

An applicant appointed to this class will be reclassified to Bank Examiner 2* after successful completion of a two-year training period; inadequate or marginal performance during the training period will result in automatic demotion or termination.

Responsibilities

1. Analyze Data and Information learn to analyze and interpret financial data to determine the financial stability of an institution. Evaluate a financial institutions earnings, capital, liquidity, investments, interest rate risk, and internal controls.
2. Identify Compliance with Rules and Regulations ensure that a financial institution is meeting all state and federal regulatory guidelines by reviewing policies, procedures, practices, processes, and financial records. Continuously maintain up-to-date knowledge of these areas.
3. Communicate Information ask questions and discuss information with team members, supervisors, and other Department personnel regarding assigned tasks, policies, responsibilities, and procedures to ensure understanding. Meet with financial institution management to obtain information and deliver findings of an examination.
4. Prepare Written Comments, Analyses, and Related Documentation write comments and analyses for examination reports, scope memoranda, work papers, and other documentation to support findings, conclusions, and ratings.
5. Train actively participate in on-the-job training and required schools. Complete requisite pre-course work when applicable.
6. Lead serve as Operations Manager overseeing the examination teams evaluation of capital, earnings, liquidity, interest rate risk, and internal controls.
7. Travel travel to in-state and out-of-state sites to complete examination training and other work sites.
