Knoxville Area Command Maintenance Worker

Knoxville Area Command is looking for a Part-Time Maintenance Worker. This position is responsible for performing routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, quarters, and equipment; performs minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repair work; performs groundskeeping; maintains vehicles; provides security for the building and property and runs errands.

This position is responsible for:

  • Routine repairs of all properties including but not limited to minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged plumbing and toilets, repair of dents and holes in the walls, and painting.
  • Maintaining the outside area of all properties and warehouses, including the landscaping of the facilities.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the inside building in the absence of a Custodian, including windows and pressure washing front and back doors.
  • Maintaining all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Property Department and maintaining an inventory.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Work frequently requires lifting, carrying, and/or pushing/pulling heavy (50 100 +lb.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Heavy mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, sitting, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching, or transporting merchandise on a frequent change basis is relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle and walking on a frequent change basis. Work is also performed outdoors with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat, and discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

What We Are Looking For:

Education and Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D. required and two years of experience in handling minor repairs and good skill in the use of hand and power tools. Or any equivalent combination of formal education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Certifications: Valid Driver's License.
