Vehlo is a high-growth, high-performance environment and we are looking for the next accounting super star to join our team! Our customers are auto repair and collision locations as well as new and used car dealerships, where we provide management systems, payment services, communications tools, scheduling modules as well as accounting and finance packages.

The Payroll Specialist will be in our Knoxville, TN office, reporting to the Payroll Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions for multiple companies including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws
  • Gathers and analyzes payroll inputs including pay changes and expense reports from supervisors
  • Assists in maintaining payroll tax accounts and filings across multiple states
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • 2+ years of related experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
  • Ability to maintain multi-state payroll tax accounts across multiple entities; correctly prepare tax reports
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or similar software, and payroll and accounting software (Paycom and Sage Intacct preferred)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must work well under pressure, be able to interact in a team environment, be able to adapt quickly to change, and possess strong customer service skills
