Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems, structures, or pipework according to technical drawings and specifications. This role requires precision, physical stamina, and a strong understanding of safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and fit materials using hand and power tools.
  • Assemble and install components or structures on-site or in workshops.
  • Align and secure parts using welding, bolting, or riveting techniques.
  • Inspect finished assemblies for accuracy and quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with engineers, welders, and other tradespeople.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship.
  • Experience as a fitter in a relevant industry (mechanical, structural, pipe, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy materials.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certification in welding or fabrication (if applicable).
  • Familiarity with CNC machinery or automated fitting tools.
  • Experience in industrial or construction environments.

Work Environment

This position operates in a non-climate controlled environment, which can be very hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The role requires proficiency in structural blueprint reading and the ability to perform basic tack welds.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
