Reports To: Admissions & Attractions Manager Status: Seasonal with opportunity to move to part-time-dependent on a 90-day review.

Supervises: N/A Pay: $11.25/hr. with opportunity to move to $12.50/hr.- dependent on a 90-day review.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provide a dynamic guest experience in a variety of settings primarily the front gate admissions booth, ticket scanning and stroller booth while demonstrating accurate job performance, delivering exceptional customer service, and promoting fun energy, and enthusiasm.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a team member, exemplify Zoo Knoxville's Core Values through interactions with guests and fellow team members. (Care, Respect, Serve, Integrity, Educate, Fun).
  • Consistently deliver high level customer service as a front-line team member.
  • Greet and welcome Zoo guests in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and communicate zoo rules with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Contribute to a safe and positive work environment for team members.
  • Learn and retain necessary components of multiple Point-of-Sale software.
  • Handle large sums of money accurately and give back change correctly.
  • Regularly staff front gate and other areas as assigned by management.
  • Share responsibility for achieving zoo budget and sales goals via actively promoting membership benefits and meeting your monthly sales expectations.
  • Follow and demonstrate all safety policies and procedures.
  • Take pride in your work area by maintaining cleanliness of work areas and surrounding public spaces.
  • Dress appropriately based on Zoo personal appearance and dress code policy.
  • Sit or stand inside and outside in all temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Check ID's and scan tickets or memberships accurately.
  • Assist with training as needed.
  • Cross train and perform duties as an Attraction Associate as needed, determined by
  • supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Dependable, honest and have a positive attitude.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear, use hands to reach and handle tickets, money, and receipts.
  • Proficient cash handling skills preferred.
  • The ability to complete basic math calculations.
  • The ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • The ability to work outside in varying temperatures and conditions.
  • Availability should include some nights, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
As an employee of Zoo Knoxville, you must possess English communication skills as well as the ability to communicate using a 2-way radio, email and telephone. The position hours vary depending on business needs and will require weekend and some holiday shifts. Depending on the specific tasks, this position will be required to work within proximity of exotic and domestic animals and must be aware that there are dangers inherent in working under those conditions.
