Designs and/or coordinates the implementation of internal EHS guidelines and processes within assigned organization.
As a Health Physicist, you will:
- Be part of a cross-department collaboration from site design to start up leading the development of relevant radiation safety and EHS equipment, processes, and procedures specific to novel radioactive tracers for diagnostic and therapeutic uses of radioactive material
- Generation, submission, and managing of radioactive materials licensing documentation and required regulatory correspondence
- Shielding design for new facilities and new equipment
- Shielding verification confirmatory surveys
- Guide the selection and design of equipment for delayed effluent release, decay in storage, detection of novel isotope contamination, and support to engineering in the identification of isotopes to assess purity.
- Onsite support to ensure proper implementation of radiation protection and EHS programs necessary for successful site operation
- Review and submittal of required decommissioning documentation
- Project management to ensure necessary deadlines are maintained
- Site support as necessary for regulatory inspections to ensure regulatory approvals

- You have familiarity with US radioactive materials and OSHA regulatory framework
- You can demonstrate experience with implementation of an EHS Management System
- You possess a thorough understanding of Microsoft 365 suite of tools
- You are a self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize tasks with input from line manager as well as in collaboration with other key experts in the organization
- You have previously worked remotely within a team while still maintaining personal accountability
- You demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills in order to succinctly and accurately convey the technical elements of regulatory and corporate programs to others inside and outside of the organization
- You exhibit a collaborative approach to problem solving that identifies and incorporates stakeholders in the development of solutions that facilitate compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements
Required skills to have for the success of this role:
- Three to five years of experience in operations at a radiochemical/radiopharmaceutical manufacturing operation, with responsibilities similar to above; or in applied radiation protection in a facility which handles unsealed radioactive material
- Experience with nuclides specifics to diagnostic and therapeutic uses of radioactive material for injection into humans
- B.S. in Radiation Protection (Health Physics), Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or other related program of study, or an engineering/science major with direct experience
- An advanced degree or Certified Health Physicist certification may be substituted for two years of experience
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the year within the US
- Must be authorized to live and work within the US with preference given to candidates based near the corporate headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee
