Sorter/Packer III Opportunity

Put your career in motion with an opportunity that makes a real environmental impact. Join Smurfit WestRock as a Sorter/Packer III at the Knoxville, TN recycling facility, where recovered materials are processed and returned into the paper-based packaging supply chain.

Location: 1323 Proctor Street, Knoxville, TN 37921

Pay Rate: $15.00/hour

Schedule: MondayThursday, 7:00 AM 5:30 PM; Occasional Fridays (typically half-day)

Work Environment: Industrial recycling & materials recovery

What's a typical day as a Sorter/Packer III? You will:

  • Manually sort recyclable materials along a fast-moving sort line into designated bunkers by grade and type.
  • Accurately identify paper, cardboard, and other recyclable materials.
  • Perform daily housekeeping and maintain cleanliness of the work area and sort line components.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and complete required documentation.
  • Clean radiators, filters, drums, and other line components.
  • Remove hazardous or prohibited materials such as batteries, needles, and metals.
  • Participate in safety programs and follow all health & safety procedures.
  • Submit maintenance requests and report equipment issues promptly.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to sort materials at line speed.
  • Physical endurance to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent light lifts throughout the shift.
  • High awareness of safety practices and PPE compliance.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
