The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for assisting in routine maintenance, basic repairs, and general mechanical tasks. This role helps develop foundational mechanical skills while ensuring adherence to Greenheck's safety standards and operational procedures. The position involves performing a variety of maintenance activities, including preventative tasks, troubleshooting, and supporting non-routine maintenance efforts under the guidance of more experienced mechanics.

What you'll be doing:

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment, including inspections, lubrication, and cleaning, under supervision.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repair efforts led by more experienced mechanics.
  • Aid and support non-routine maintenance efforts, following direction from peers.
  • Maintain work areas to meet or exceed company housekeeping standards.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including cranes and aerial lifts, safely and as needed.
  • Record completed tasks in the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Participate in required training to safely perform duties and improve technical skills, including CMMS Competency, Authorized User Training, and Aerial Lift Training.
  • Perform routine repairs on equipment, including basic mechanical work and component identification.
  • Assist with basic hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication tasks, including understanding different types and uses of lubricants.
  • Support machine cleaning and upkeep, following company procedures and safety protocols.
  • Aid in the collection of samples as required for inspections or maintenance.
  • Participate in visual and sensory inspections of equipment to identify potential issues.
  • Help with routine preventative maintenance, including basic fabrication tasks and machine cleaning.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of blueprints, owner manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Be able to work independently on assigned tasks after receiving initial training.
  • Assist with spare part lookup and asset/machine identification as needed.
  • Maintain certification in first aid/CPR and crane operation as required.
What you should have as a Maintenance Mechanic I:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge; experience in a manufacturing setting is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Continuous lifting, climbing, kneeling, pulling, bending, etc.
  • Basic math, computer skills, and the ability to use hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and manuals.
  • Certified in crane operation and basic machine safety protocols.
  • Must maintain certifications in first aid/CPR, and other required safety training.


What you should have as a Maintenance Mechanic II:
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or associate degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of previous manufacturing maintenance experience required.
  • Advanced mechanical knowledge, including power transmission, CNC systems, and electrical control systems.
  • Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot electrical motors, motor control systems, and machine controls.
  • Understanding of basic PLC/ladder logic and machine controls replacement.
  • Experience with advanced hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission systems.
  • Familiarity with network/communications diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and owner manuals.
  • Experience with machine commissioning and installation.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to direct and mentor other maintenance staff.
  • Ability to work independently and provide proactive maintenance solutions.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, including NFPA 70E and NEC guidelines.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Continuous lifting, climbing, kneeling, pulling, bending, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
What you should have as a Maintenance Mechanic III:
  • High school diploma or GED required; successful completion of Greenheck's 10,000-hour Apprenticeship Program required.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience in manufacturing maintenance or a related field required.
  • Advanced mechanical knowledge, including power transmission, CNC systems, electrical control systems, and machine diagnostics.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing electrical motors, motor control systems, and machine controls.
  • Strong experience with PLC programming, ladder logic, and machine control systems.
  • Advanced understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical installation and repair to NEC standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and direct maintenance teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take the lead on major maintenance projects.
  • Certified in first aid/CPR and other required safety certifications (e.g., crane operation).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Continuous lifting, climbing, kneeling, pulling, bending, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.

The starting base pay range for this position is $28.00/hour-$40.00/hour and may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position requires ability to move with ease in the production area; possess physical strength and stamina to remain in stationary/standing position for prolonged periods; use hands and fingers for potentially repetitive handling, gripping, and manipulating product, tools, and equipment; position oneself to complete work including bending, balancing, twisting, rotating, stooping, climbing, moving over uneven surfaces; push, pull and reach; and lift, carry, move or position objects up to 50 pounds regularly.

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to operating machinery with moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, forklift and crane operations, and vibration as well as varied exposure to noise. Personal prtective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toed footwear required. Additional PPE may be required based upon work. This is a safety-sensitive position, and impairment while performing the tasks or duties of this role could pose a health and safety risk to both the individual performing the tasks as well as those around them. Dependent upon location, the facility may or may not be a climate-controlled plant which could result in varied hot and cold temperatures swings at times.
