divh2Security Officer/h2pMaintains security for the hospital and all hospital owned property adjacent to the main facility./ppReports to Security Manager/ppJob Requirements/ppSupervisory Responsibilities: NO/ppMinimum Education: High School/GED Required/ppDegree: General/ppLicense/Certification Required:/pp- Valid Tennessee Drivers License/pp- Valid State of TN Armed Security Guard/Officer License OR valid P.O.S.T certification if current or previous full-time Law Enforcement Officer/pp- Qualified to obtain Special Deputy Bond through the Knox County Sheriffs office/pp- Must obtain Basic Certification for the Healthcare Security Officer through the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS), as well as, certification in Incident Command (IS 100 200) and National Preparedness (IS 800) through NIMS (National Incident Management System) within one year of employment./ppMinimum Work Experience: 1 year as security or law enforcement officer is preferred/ppRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/pulliMust be 21 years of age or older./liliValid Tennessee Drivers License/liliExcellent oral and written communication, mediation and interpersonal skills./liliSelf-motivated, work with minimal supervision, takes initiative and accepts responsibility./liliStrong computer skills in MS Office and Outlook./li/ulpDuties and Responsibilities/pulliEnsures the security and safety of all patients, visitors, staff, and property by patrolling assigned interior and exterior areas of the hospital and maintains control and order in all areas of the hospital, as indicated by following policies and procedures/liliPrepares daily shift report, which includes thorough documentation of patrolling activity, locking/unlocking of doors, and calls for service details./liliPromptly answers calls for service and responds appropriately and professionally according the each unique situation./liliAdmits authorized personnel on request to closed areas and documents the request by noting location, requestor, and authorizing person./liliThoroughly investigates irregularities and criminal violations in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and Tennessee Law./liliProvides escorts to visitors and staff upon request to ensure their safe passage on the campus./liliResponds to any and all emergency code calls in a prompt and professional manner and follows the policy of the particular code when the code is activated, and responds to heliport and provides assistance for arrival and departure of helicopter./liliPrepares event/incident reports in accordance with departmental policy and performs arrest in accordance with federal, state and local laws./liliProperly logs lost and found property and releases property following proper procedure./liliDisplays a clean and professional appearance at all times, in accordance with Childrens Hospital Dress Code and Appearance on the Job Policy and departmental standards, as well as a high level of service excellence in all interactions in accordance with Policy./liliTestifies in court, as required, to knowledge of or action taken regarding matters of interest to the courts./liliAssists outside law enforcement agencies having official business within the hospital by giving directions, locations and information while abiding by hospital and HIPAA rules and regulations./liliMaintains Hospital owned property to insure it remains in good working order and is safeguarded from loss, theft or damage./liliUtilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably and willingly accepts any other assignment that may be requested./li/ulpPhysical Requirements/pulliHeavy lifting, pushing and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching, and standing are required.
