Position Summary:
Audubon Florida supports management of rooftop-nesting birds through much of the Florida Panhandle by working with building managers to protect nesting areas from disturbance. To better monitor, protect and promote seabird conservation of rooftop-nesting birds, Audubon is hiring a seasonal Rooftop Seabird Monitor. Rooftop-nesting seabirds are primarily Least Tern but may also include other species of interest. The Rooftop Seabird Monitor will work in a five-county region; Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, and Bay County, with the responsibility of monitoring and confirming rooftop colonies. Additional tasks include implementing supplementary rooftop management, conducting emergency chick retrieval and assisting with volunteer coordination. The Rooftop Seabird Monitor may be responsible for monitoring additional beach-nesting sites within the Destin area, as needed.
