Job Details

RK&K's Project Controls and Construction Management Division is seeking a talented Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be key in developing accurate construction cost estimates for a diverse range of small to large construction projects across various stages of the project lifecycle.

Essential Functions

• Thoroughly review construction documents to understand the scope of work for each bid.
• Perform detailed take-offs from construction documents with precision.
• Input take-offs into an organized computer spreadsheet or leading estimating program.
• Research and obtain competitive pricing for materials.
• Solicit and assess bids from subcontractors to ensure the best value.
• Compile and analyze costs associated with materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead.
• Provide estimations when no predetermined standard is available.
• Communicate any inaccuracies or omissions discovered in quoted items or databases to your supervisor promptly.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive resource information on products, vendors, and regulatory requirements.
• Undertake additional tasks as assigned to support project goals.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field, or at least five (5) years of relevant experience in heavy civil or highway construction projects.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and self-motivation.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with contractor bid software such as Bid2Win or HeavyBid is advantageous.
