Collections & Cash Applications Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Collections & Cash Applications Specialist to join our client's growing team in Knoxville. This role plays a key part in managing incoming payments, reducing delinquency, and supporting the overall accounts receivable process.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage high-volume B2B collections, including outbound calls, emails, and account follow-up.
• Review and monitor assigned accounts to reduce delinquency and resolve outstanding balances.
• Accurately apply customer payments (ACH, wires, checks, credit cards) to the correct accounts.
• Research and resolve cash application discrepancies, short payments, chargebacks, and unapplied cash.
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain up-to-date financial records.
• Collaborate with internal teams (A/R, A/P, Customer Service, Treasury) to ensure accuracy of invoices and payments.
• Generate collection reports, aging summaries, and documentation needed for escalations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities as needed.
• Maintain compliance with internal policies, SOX controls, and audit requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Collections, Accounts Receivable, or Cash Applications.
• Strong understanding of A/R processes, reconciliation, and customer account maintenance.
• Experience handling high-volume payments and B2B portfolios.
• Proficiency with accounting systems (ERP, SAP, NetSuite, JD Edwards, QuickBooks, etc.).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.
• Excel proficiency (V-Lookups, pivot tables preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing or improving collection processes.
• Familiarity with dispute management, credit memos, and refund processing.
• Prior exposure to fast-paced or high-volume environments.

Pay Details: $22.00 to $26.00 per hour
