Responsible for aspects of front office management and operation as assigned.

Essential functions include:

• Complete and accurate patient registration, pre-certification, charge capture, and coding diagnoses given by physicians.
• Posting all payments and balancing with the computer reports at day end.
• Liaison between patient and medical support staff, greeting patients and visitors, checking in patients, verifying insurance information, and maintaining appointment books.
• Assisting patients with questions on insurance claims, obtaining disability insurance benefits, home health care, medical equipment, surgical care, etc.
• Researching all information needed to complete outpatient billing process, including getting charge information from physicians, coding information about procedures performed and diagnosis on charge, and processing and distributing copies of billings.
• Collecting payments at time of service for daily outpatient visit services, reviewing accounts to ensure timely payment, performing collection actions, evaluating patient financial status, and establishing budget payment plans.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum requirements include:

• Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma. Associate degree in technical specialty program of 18 months minimum in length preferred.
• Experience - No previous experience required. Multi-specialty group practice setting experience - preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

• Basic understanding of ICD-9 and CPT coding - preferred.
