In the role of Roadway and Bridge Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the quality of construction activities across various job sites. This position primarily focuses on routine inspections under the leadership of senior inspectors and engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of traffic control measures, environmental safeguards, construction methodologies, and materials under direct supervision.
  • Assess the acceptability of contractors' work and provide recommendations on the acceptance or rejection of daily reports based on project specifications compliance.
  • Review and evaluate the contractor's quality control procedures and material testing to ensure adherence to established guidelines.
  • Perform sampling and in-situ testing of materials such as soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt pavement.

Your Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certifications from a State Highway Agency or a National Entity (e.g., ACI or NICET) in relevant areas are preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • At least 6 months of related experience is required; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally may be necessary based on project demands.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics and construction materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Able to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Capable of interpreting construction plans, drawings, and specifications.

Job Site Location: Tennessee - Knoxville

Travel Requirement: Approximately 20% travel may be needed.
