Position Summary

The Food Safety and Quality (FSQA) Intern will support the Food Safety & Quality Assurance team in maintaining food safety programs and quality standards. This role provides hands-on experience in food manufacturing and exposure to regulatory compliance, product quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will work under the supervision of FSQA leadership to assist with daily quality and food safety activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine quality checks and documentation review to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Support environmental monitoring programs, product sampling, and testing activities
  • Help maintain food safety documentation, including SOPs, logs, and verification records
  • Participate in internal audits and GMP inspections
  • Assist in data collection and basic trend analysis for quality metrics
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action documentation
  • Collaborate with operations and sanitation teams to reinforce food safety best practices
  • Participate in training sessions and team meetings related to food safety and quality

Learning Opportunities

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Strong interest in food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance
  • Basic understanding of microbiology or food safety principles preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Skills

  • Coursework in microbiology, food microbiology, chemistry, or quality systems
  • Familiarity with GMPs or food manufacturing environments (academic or internship experience)
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
