Job Title: Histotechnician (3rd Shift)

Schedule:Monday – Friday | 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM

Duration: 3 months contract to hire

Location: 1924 Alcoa Hwy Knoxville TNUSA 37920

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Histotechnician to join our 3rd shift team. Under the supervision of a Senior or Lead Histotechnologist, the Histotechnician will perform routine and special paraffin histotechnology procedures to ensure high-quality diagnostic material is prepared and delivered within established turnaround times. This role supports both routine and STAT testing in a fast-paced, high-complexity laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform tissue embedding, processing, microtomy, and routine & special staining procedures.
• Process specimens for the Immunohistochemistry (IHC) laboratory
• Perform accurate gross descriptions of tissue samples.
• Maintain strict adherence to quality control procedures and document all QC activities accurately.
• Operate laboratory instruments and equipment according to established written procedures.
• Identify instrument malfunctions and testing discrepancies; notify appropriate personnel and assist in resolution.
• Meet established productivity and turnaround time standards for both routine and STAT cases.
• Record, transcribe, and maintain patient test results according to laboratory protocols.
• Review accuracy and completeness of test results prior to release in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Assist laboratory personnel in identifying, analyzing, and resolving inconsistent or abnormal results.
• Maintain compliance with CAP, CLIA, and other regulatory standards

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related life science field
• Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (minimum 720 hours).
• Meets CLIA personnel qualification standards
• State licensure where applicable (e.g., CA, FL, NY).
• 0–2 years of histology laboratory experience (new graduates encouraged to apply).
