Description:
Performs diagnostic procedures utilizing ultrasound for diagnosis of disease processes and delineation of both normal/abnormal anatomy as well as pathological conditions in areas of the human body.

Minimum Education: Director—Radiology/ Department Manager
Degree: General
License/Certification Required: Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within one year of completing the ultrasound program.
Minimum Work Experience: New Graduate or 1 year of general radiology experience required. Sonography and pediatric experience preferred.
Operate Ultrasound equipment effectively to produce quality images. Ability to work flexible hours and alternate shifts. Rotate on call for evening, weekend and holiday coverage. Able to adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades as radiological field advances, effective organizational and time management skills, effective written and verbal communication skills.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skill levels in: Area of expertise to ensure production of high quality images; Safe operation of equipment and accessories with proper warm-up exposure, daily QC and good reporting techniques.
Performs correct exam on correct patient
Follows the PACS and Meditech workflow
Consults with the radiologist on duty to assure correct scanning parameters when necessary
Provides excellent patient care and creates an environment in which customers feel valued and respected.
Demonstrates a caring and interested manner.
Effectively communicates and problem-solves with customers.
Maintains HIPAA compliance and strict patient confidentiality at all times.
Follows all department team expectations.

Heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently, and 10lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting squatting, reaching, and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
