Basic PurposeThe Dispatcher will coordinate driver assignments and activities to ensure proper distribution service to our customers. Escalate issues whenever there are risks to proper service.ScheduleSunday - Thursday, 10pm - 6:30amEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCoordinate driver activities and shuttle assignments to resolve service issues and minimize overtime, downtime, and hours of service violations. Complete attendance trackers and verify that drivers are using Omnitracs properly.Ensure that customer's needs are being met in a prompt and professional manner and escalate issues (late dispatch, breakdown, other service failures) to managers and sales force. Reassign routes as needed to solve service issues, and ensure that drivers are logging in and utilizing Proof of Delivery scanner.Coordinate trailer, tractor, and backhaul assignments to support efficient logistics operations.Visually inspect each driver's appearance to verify that drivers are in proper uniform and have required PPE.Notify the manager/supervisor in charge and the safety specialist in the event of a vehicle accident or driver injury.Perform other duties as assigned by manager.SupervisionN/ARelationshipsInternal: Drivers, transportation managers and supervisors, salesExternal: CustomersWork EnvironmentThe work will take place both at a desk in an office environment and in normal warehouse environments including cooler and freezer areas where temperatures may be as low as -5 degrees.Minimum QualificationsRelated Experience/Requirements:Minimum one year of transportation or logistics experience.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Effective communication both verbally and in writing.Excellent telephone and customer service ability.Math, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.Basic computer skills with a good knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.Problem solving and critical thinking abilities to solve problems of limited scope.Strong teamwork skills with the ability to support others in the department and division.EducationHigh school diploma or GED/equivalent required.Preferred QualificationsPrior dispatcher experience preferred.Knowledge of DOT Hours of Service Regulations and driver logs.Knowledge of our geographic delivery area.Physical QualificationsStand occasionallyWalk occasionallyDrive vehicle occasionallySit frequentlyLift 1-10 lbs (Sedentary) occasionallyLift 11-20 lbs (Light) occasionallyLift 21-50 lbs (Medium) occasionallyLift 51-100 lbs (Heavy) occasionallyCarry 1-10 lbs (Sedentary) occasionallyCarry 11-20 lbs (Light) occasionallyCarry 21-50 lbs (Medium) occasionallyCarry 51-100 lbs (Heavy) N/APUSH/PULL occasionallyCLIMB/BALANCE occasionallySTOOP/SQUAT occasionallyKNEEL occasionallyBEND occasionallyREACH ABOVE SHOULDER frequentlyTWIST occasionallyGRASP OBJECTS occasionallyMANIPULATE OBJECTS occasionallyMANUAL DEXTERITY frequentlyCompensationThe expected base rate for this role is between $17 and $26 per hour.
