Interpreter/Educational Assistant

Claxton Elementary is accepting applications for an Interpreter/Educational Assistant. This position is categorized as an English Learner Educational Assistant (EA) who works with students where English is not their native language. The Assistant will work under the direction of a licensed teacher. The Educational Assistant is engaged in all learning activities as directed by the teacher. All Educational Assistants employed by Anderson County Schools are required to be Highly Qualified (HQ).

A high school diploma is a minimum requirement. Some college is desired. The successful candidate must be Highly Qualified (HQ), as defined by federal law. The HQ status is achieved by either passing the Praxis Parapro Test, which assesses general knowledge; by having a minimum of an A.S. degree; or having successfully completed 48 semester hours of college work. Experience working with students and being bilingual is required for this position.
