Medical Registration Specialist

Our healthcare clientin Knoxville is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Medical Registration Specialist to serve as the first point of contact for patients. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a positive patient experience by accurately collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, and registration information while supporting the overall patient access and revenue cycle process.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients in a professional and compassionate manner
• Collect, verify, and update patient demographic and insurance information
• Confirm insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements
• Obtain required consent forms and patient documentation
• Accurately enter patient information into the electronic health record (EHR) system
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards
• Assist patients with registration questions and resolve discrepancies in records
• Coordinate with clinical, billing, and revenue cycle teams regarding patient information
• Maintain accurate records and support efficient patient flow

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous experience in medical registration, patient access, medical office administration, or healthcare customer service preferred; strong overall customer service experience required
• Knowledge of insurance verification processes and medical terminology preferred
• Experience with EHR systems and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy
• Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
